First Baptist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.
Barbie Womble
Financial Secretary
My Name is Barbie Womble, and I am the Finance Manager for First Baptist Church - Colquitt. I was born here in Miller County Hospital on December 31, 1964. My parents are Henry and Joan Peterson. I graduated from Miller County High School in 1982. February 22, 1985, I married Wayne Womble who was born and raised here in Miller County. I am a member of the Colquitt Freewill Baptist Church. I was brought up to work hard and participate in my community and church. I have been a volunteer in my community for many years, but my priority was my family. My husband and I owned and operated a local crop-dusting service for over 35 years. I served on the Downtown Development Authority for 3 years, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for several years and Chairperson for the Board of Commissioners for 4 years. I managed the Tarrer Inn for Mr. Clyde Jinks for 3 years before he passed away. I enjoy entertaining and hosting parties. I love to bake, paint (furniture), and work in my yards. Wayne and I have one son, Curt, and a granddaughter, Bridget.
Susan Long
Secretary
Susan is our church secretary and has served at the church since 2016. She is active in the choir and helps her husband Steve with choir preparations. She is always a friendly face and voice as people enter the church office.

Deon Foster
Youth Leader
As Youth Leader Deon demonstrates a passion and strong love for the youth of the church and community. He has served in this position for three years. Exciting days for our youth ministry are ahead of us.
Craig Hartzog
Senior Pastor
Dr. Craig Hartzog was called as Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church on October 1, 2023. He has previously served several churches in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and North Carolina. He earned his B.A. from Mississippi College, his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Freida, have been married since 1978. They have three daughters, and seven granddaughters.
He is passionate and gifted in preaching, leadership, administration, serving, and counseling. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, woodworking, reading and gardening. He and his wife, Freida, are originally from Newberry, Florida.
Steve Long
Minister of Music & Worship
Born in Nashville, TN, Steve became a Christian at the age of 9, while his father was pastoring a church in Waycross, GA. The family soon moved to Douglas, GA, to establish a mission church, and made this their home. After graduation from Coffee Co. High School, Steve attended South Georgia College and then Welch College in Nashville, TN. where he met his wife, Susan. They married in 1978 and moved to Colquitt, (Susan’s hometown) in 1980. They have been members of First Baptist Church since 2004. Steve has served in various positions in the music ministry since 2004. Realizing God’s call on his life to serve by proclaiming His gospel through music, Steve became ordained in June 2017. In addition to serving as Minister of Worship, Steve is also employed full time as a Management and Program Analyst at the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany, GA. They have 2 children and 5 granddaughters.
Mark Worsley
Associate Pastor
Mark has been married to his high school sweetheart, Roxanne, since 1981. Together they have served the Lord Jesus together for over 30 years. Mark has served churches in Florida and Georgia as Youth Pastor/Minister of Education/ and as Senior Pastor. Mark and Roxanne also worked together at the Florida Baptist Children's home, serving as House Parents for teenage girls.Colquitt is home to both Mark and Roxanne. They enjoy spending time with family and friends.
